Oh My God! I'm way over my head, I'm usually buried in bronze dust at the foundry. I never thought I would be drenched with the sticky numbers of html and urls(or whatever they're called) and Cyrus my brilliant blog designer on the first day of trying to get this blog up. I want to be able to talk to all the wonderful people out there that I've heard about on the blogosphere, share my work, and see theirs.
Cyrus and I met at a Peets Coffee next to an Apple Store. Sculpting is my life, and always has been (check out my site), but I was sitting there blown away by this kid, who had just turned 14, whirling away on his mac, and just for the heck of it, I said hey, "What do you know about blogs?"........
Check out this quick video of Cyrus and I working today!
A few months ago I picked up this magazine called 'Artful Blogging' by Summerset and was just in awe by the color, creativity, the shared inspiration, and the sense of community. But mostly the talent. So, I decided I wanted to become part of this crazy and wild and free blog world, and see if by doing so I would find my sense of child, of wonder, of creativity, and be free. Bronze and galleries and openings and collectors are all wonderful, but it is a box. I'm hoping you all can help me break out of it.
Cyrus, the reassuring smell of coffee, a doughnut I shouldn't be eating, caught by the fingers flying across the foreign keyboard... With big brown eyes, sitting in a chair too big for him, with a grin on his face, he looked up at me, and answered "Yeah! I can do a blog," he said with the confidence like that of an Executive from Stanford, watching his sneakers strive to tap on the tile. So, off we went into Cyrus' amazing world of excitement, enthusiasm, and youthful brilliance. How better to find your self again as an artist than to collaborate with somebody that has not become jaded by the world yet.
During my career, I have always enjoyed working with people that are just starting out, encouraging them and supporting them in their artistic goals. In return, we get to share each others knowledge, mutually help our careers, watch our professional and creative endeavors grow. I am hoping this blog will give Cyrus' burgeoning career a jump start, and that his energy and excitement will also give my blog a magical feel, and help me find that childlike creativity that has been weighted down, from the "Shray World." So give us some time, some feedback, and we invite you to share this adventure with us.
